Acknowledges receipt of Ruffini's microscopical preparations, which he describes as 'very beautiful'. Enquires after function of end-organ in finger. Refers to work by von Frey on hair follicle. Apologizes for lack of success with publication by the Royal Society of Ruffini's work. Has sent off two plates from Ruffini's MS (presumably prepared for unpublished article).
