‘Dearest, I am sorry about the biscuits, it will be best to get Mr Rice to take them to the station & return them per[?] passenger train ro Spratts, Limited Fenchurch Street. I will write tomorrow about them. I told Miss Child to order the same quantity & kind as last sent, but I expect she omitted the word ovals. If you have opened these biscuits & used any you might supply their places with some of Spratts square biscuits which Mrs Trowell has, if they are of the same kind i.e. square puppy biscuits. I will write to Spratt tomorrow.

I am glad Sigrid has made up her mind to go to Coldharbour. I am sure she wants a good rest & will not get [one] as long as she is in Town, & thinking of household matters, & rushing about to see people etc. I am glad all so far has gone well with Meg & the puppy. The quaint letter you sent me was from Mr Heath asking if I cared for 200 chestnut faggots! He had heard that I had inquired about them from his gardener (before X-mas) so that it is rather late to offer them now!). All much as usual at the Laboratory Mr Usher came in on Tuesday but nobody else of interest.

I am beginning to be in a flurry over my Royal Institution Lecture next week as I have not written it yet! Also I have a British Assn. meeting tomorrow & other distracting side shows, so I must not write more.
