'In my first article (The Cord, 1948, Vol. I, No. 2) the psychosocial aspects of readjustment to a new life were discussed and the importance of obtaining employment at the earliest possible moment stressed. Emphasis was laid on the urgency of finding home employment for a certain section of paraplegics, and it was suggested that "Home Work Pools" should be formed by business and industrial firms, which would enable these men not only to earn enough to keep themselves and regain or increase their feeling of self-confidence and independence, but also once again to do their bit for their country by taking part in the present drive for increased production.'
