Response to a committe's request for a statement regarding the provision for the teaching of physiology, details 'usual' plan in US and Germany of having two chairs for the subject plus a separate chair for histology 'which in this country is placed, I think advantageously, with Physiology', divisiion of physiology into [1] 'physical and psychophysical', [2] 'chemical' and [3] 'histology', that [1] is the most extensive of these as far as provision of classes is concerned, that [2] requires more student hours, on the desirability of converting the current chair of bio-chemistry into a teaching position, on the diversity of students taught by the chair of physiology, on the large fees brought in to the university by the chair of physiology. that the minimum salary for Liverpool Chairs should be £700 per annum.
