That Sherrington has been owing Denny-Brown a letter since one the latter sent re: Pavlov, commentary on Ischlonsky (1930?) - its value as a description of the training techniques at Petrograd, critical comments on reflex training technique of Pavlov et al: 'You make the point of 'completion' or 'satisfaction' of the act being so necessary, + so full of functional repurcussions. This becomes more so in the light of Ischlonski's naive account, revealing a whole day-long train of 'expectancy' culminating, along an avenue of daily-repeated + daily-expected circumstances, in the final signal - which last is the only one actually protocolled.' It seems misleading to term such a reaction 'a reflex'.' re: D-B's 'application for B.A. Scholarship' - that he has already copmplied with 'Brock of the London' - the strengths of D-B's application, invites D-B to dine at the RS after Adrian's lecture, thanks D-B for MS 'just to hand, about Ipsil. Ext.'
