Description
Informs Sherrington that he has spent some days with Bonnier, the French socialist who taught from 1900-13 at the University of Liverpool. Returned to his home in northern France (Templeuve) at beginning of war and suffered under German occupation. After the armistice his house was occupied by the British. Learned then of the death of his brother Pierre (1861-1918), his nephew Marc and maternal bonne Mlle Celine. Describes how French lost weight during the occupation. 'After leaving them I crossed the ravaged region for an hour'.
