Orientation of Section: transverse
Number of Sections: 1
Part of Body: folia of the cerebellar cortex
Stained with: gallocyanin
Description

Section through one of the folia of the cerebellar cortex, stained with gallocyanin. The contrast between the superficial molecular layer of the cortex (containing very few cells) and the deeper granular layer (densely packed with small granule cells) is very evident. Between the two layers is a single row of large cells, the Purkinje cells.
