Related to Sherrington to Denny-Brown - 17 October 1933 (S/2/11/8)
Description: 'You may have noticed how recent work by Coghill [Philadelphia] - also by Minskowski [Zurich] - on the foetal reflexes as ontogeny proceeds, finds 'generalized' reflexes earliest - e.g. touch (or squeeze) of a toe causes contraction at many distant points together e.g. face (lips) -; then the reflexes are said to become as the feotus ages more localized, so that for instance the flexion reflex of hind-limb as we know it in adult emerges. From the this it is argued that Head & Riddoch['s] 'mass' reflex obtains early & by 'integration' is restricted and becomes more 'precise' as individual development goes on.'
