Description
Section through the medulla at the level of the upper end of the pyramidal decussation (Pyr.Dec.). The nucleus gracilis (Ng.) is quite evident at this level, receiving the termination of the fasciculus gracilis (Fg.). Lateral to it is the fasciculus cuneatus (Fc), and the lower extremity of the nucleus cuneatus (Nc). Still more lateral can be seen the substantia gelatinosa which corresponds here to the spinal nucleus of the fifth nerve (V) and superficial to it the spinal tract of the fifth nerve (Sp). Note also the dorsal and ventral spino-cerebellar tracts (Scd. and Scv.).
