Description
Section through the central sulcus of Rolando (Rol) and the precentral and postcentral gyri. The precentral gyrus accommodates the motor cortex and the postcentral sulcus the sensory cortex. Notice how much thicker the precentral cortex is than the postcentral, and how the junction of the two occurs abruptly at the bottom of the central sulcus. Hence, the central sulcus is a "limiting sulcus", marking accurately the boundary between the motor and sensory areas of cortex.
