Description
Transverse section through the mid-brain, showing the optic tracts (Op.Tr.). These are seen crossing laterally over the surface of the cerebral peduncles (Ped) and (on the left side) terminating in the lateral geniculate body (Gl). In close relation to the latter are the medial geniculate body (Gm) and the pulvinar (Pulv). Notice, among other things, the pineal gland (P) situated in the groove between the superior corpora, quadrigemina (SCQ), the red nucleus (R) with the upper end of the medial fillet (Mf) to its lateral side, the substantia nigra (Sn), and the mamillary bodies (Mam).
