When we went along to see Hughes after receiving Middleton's letter, we were told that he had been for several years the partner in a business in India which exported monkeys, but that he had become ill and had to return to the United Kingdom and that his partner then took over control of the whole business. Hughes told us that it had not been possible to break into the market in India again and this is one of the reasons why he is interested in East Pakistan.
