Description:
‘Dear Pearson,
Your letter about granules in the spectacle mark of the Pekinese pup arrived just when I was leaving for Ross-shire. There was just time to pick up three of the sections. The appearance certainly suggests granular pigment, so I am sending off three sections to you to have this confirmed or otherwise. My opinion of hair appearance is worth little or nothing. I shall be very interested to know what the brown things are in some of the hairs if not pigment granules.
