Description:‘Dear Pearson,
... [re: plates depicting dogs]...
When I returned from London this morning the following was received from the man who looks after the Edinburgh dogs:
“Friday, 26th Jany... the young bitch (Mairi dhu – a pom pek) had five pups. 2 black, 2 black & white & 1 lemon & white – all bitches sorry to have to report that the lemon & white & a black & white are dead.” Father is an albino Pekinese.
The two dead ones have arrived here & are very remarkable. One is markedly piebald black & white, eyes dark but possibly not fully pigmented, we shall see later. The other is like the ordinary albino pekinese dogs as regards the “white” part of the skin, really a cream colour isn’t it, and there are distinct darker patches difficult to give a colour name to - ?lemon, anyway they are light coloured patches. Eyes red like the other albino pekinese dogs.
