Sent from Charles Howard Usher
14 Mar 1913
Description:
‘Dear Pearson,
Tong’s skull was sent to Dr. Low but it is now of no use for your present purpose. Mairi[?] Bahn’s skull is also in the same condition.
Prince is at a distance.
Shiela re-measured today –
Nasal length – the average of 5 measurements = 1.64.”
Jaw breadth – the average of 4 measurements = 1.75”.
Head breadth – average of 2 measurements = 2.67”.
Head length = 3.91”.
You will notice that the head length today shows no increase from last measurement, althought the N.L. has increased. I can only say that in all likelihood it is due to the impossibility of great accuracy with a struggling dog.
Not my handwriting – injured Right hand [note: ‘only superficial but dirty’] by falling on orange peel when going to measure Shiela.
Yours sincerely,
C.H. Usher.'
