Description:
‘Dear Pearson,
Another dog tragedy!
Yfa’s pup, ♀, the only one she had of a 2nd litter, was murdered by Scotch terrier bitch who is foster mother to 3 of Spook’s pups. Yfa had been taken out for a moment when the terrier made straight for Yfa’s box & simply tore the pup in two. All that remains is head & neck & upper part of chest. This happened on Apr. 19th.
The pup would not likely have lived in any case as there is a hare-lip on right side & a cleft palate.
When skin was removed & the unopened eyelids it was seen that the right orbit is much shrunken & there was no eyeball on that side. On the left side is a well developed albinotic eye ball. The orbit on left side appears to be normal & is large & deep compared with the small, flat, shrunken socket on right side.
Coat on head & neck is cream colour. The man who looked after her said there was a white patch on chest, but the blood is being allowed to dry before we attempt to confirm this & quite likely the part with the white patch has gone; shape of head is pekinese.
I saw this morning a new complete albino boy, age 12, from Banffshire only albino in sibship of 8 or so there were 3 miscarriages. Mc Innes is the name. Parents 1st cousins. There are other two albinos, brother & sister the only children of the sibship, 3rd cousins of the albino boy of 12. The albino 3rd cousins live in Beaully & their name is Inglis. The boy’s mother has very dark hair. I have of course particulars of the boy. I don’t intend to go further with it. Just now any way.
Yrs sincerely,
C.H. Usher.’
