Sent from Charles Howard Usher
18 May 1916
Description:
‘Dear Pearson,
Lady’s parents were white and all her grandparents and at least six of the great-grandparents.
Nellie, No. 285 had a litter of 2 males on Nov. 8, 1914 (Nos. 305 & 306) by Wai, a pekinese albino, No. 237. This dog by the way died under chloroform on May 12th when I was about to excise an inflamed blind eye. Respiration stopped long before the circulation failed. Nellie’s next litter was a male on Apr. 3, 1916 by J[?]an ban a pekinese albino.
There must be additions to several of the schedules made after your copies were sent. When you wish I had better send all my copies so that additions may be added or if you return your copies, I can go over them. Enclosed are some [9] recently taken dog photos. There is another of the chocolate pup to be printed.
...
I wonder if there is any relationship between sexual activity and pigmentation of summer coat in winter white animals. I think that the stoat families all appear in spring or early summer. It would be interesting to castrate a few white males in January & keep these alive until summer.
Yrs. sincerely,
C.H. Usher.’
