Sent from Charles Howard Usher

Description:
‘Dear Pearson,
Tragedy has followed tragedy. After sending my first wire to you a message came that the dog D[?]eochry had died suddenly. He was to have mated the Pom. bitch. His carcase is being sent to-night to Gerrard, 61, College Place, Camden Town and a request to preserve skeleton & skin. Would you kindly tell them how to set up the skeleton. The dam of this dog is still alive so that her skeleton will be available later. If you think it is desirable to continue the increase of Pom. in the Pom. Pek combination then I would require a black Pom. male to mate D[?]eochry’s Dam. In many cases Deochry’s sire though a typical black Pom. has no pedigree beyond the sire & dam. However it will be well to have his skeleton in case nothing more comes from his dam. All this is most disappointing.
It is just possible that Deochry was poisoned for I was told today that rat poison was placed not far from where the dog lived & some may possibly have been conveyed to where the dog was, it may have been by a rat.
Yours sincerely,
C.H. Usher.’
