Description:
‘My dearest Wife,
I was very glad to get the peep at your doings which I had from your letter tonight when I got home. The dogs welcomed me & I read at dinner a paper on inheritance of eye trouble – badly done. It is difficult to [understand] why all our bairns should have eye difficulties, for mine have lasted me fairly well & so did my Father’s, though my mother’s were bad & her Father’s in old age.’
