Description:
‘Dearest, just a line by Sigrid to say how welcome your letter was. I seemed a long time from Tuesday to Thursday morning, but letters are very irregular now-a days. Your card came all right yesterday. All my people are back now and Miss Bell comes on Monday. I think Miss Child the new secretary may turn out well but it is too early yet to say. She does not come late & leave at the minute. Poor old Grethel is to have her eye removed today. It was not possible to keep her with this protruding optic[?]. I hope by this time Meg’s fate is settled. Don’t worry too much over her and her doings, nor grieve if some of the pups die. The point will be to insist that Hans is kept away & shut offf safely. If there are 5 or 6 pups I think that two males should be removed and the females preserved. We want those badly. Keep also the Cornaz (buff) rather than Dondo (white) type. Sigrid may able to sex them. It ought to be, if she is not too old a most interesting litter. You will have heard from Egan? He sent an arrival card to me. I hope Sigrid will arrive to find pups come as it will be more restful for her.
Ever yours K.P.’
