Related to The Home Pets' Exhibition (Olympia, London) (12-14 December 1934).
Description: 'The year's last important show ended on Friday, December 14. It was an Open show organised by the newspaper, The People, in aid of the London Hospital, and took place at Olympia, London, on December 12, 13 and 14, the last day beng devoted to exemption classes. The initial venture turned out to be a tremendous success and attracted a great entry of dogs, the judging of which was watched by an enourmous crowd of visitors. The weather was variable, but this did not keep the "gate" down, and Wednesday's figure of nearly 10,000 visitors was exceeded on the Thursday, whilst Friday's attendance was also good.
The total entry was 4,265 made by 2,257 individual exhibits and constituted a record for an Open show. Credit for achieving such an entry and bringing in such a "gate" must be placed to the determined advertising campaign and the fact the event was in aid of a deserving charity. We are informed that the London Hospital will benefit by £1000 as a result of the show.'
