Sent G. Elliot Smith to K. Pearson, 13th Oct. 1920.
13 Oct 1920
Description:
‘Dear Karl Pearson,
Herewith I return the bill, making my department responsible for £20 and thereby responsible for the Sudanese collection, concerning the membership[?] of which there is some doubt.
I shall go to your department after lunch today and sort[?] the material.
I have never studied the mode of development of the knee sesmoids, but will put someone to work on the problem and get first hand evidence. A priori it seems more likely that they are preformed in hyaline[?] cartilage: but I hope soon to provide a definite answer.
With kind regards.
Yours truly,
G. Elliot Smith.’

Sent G. Elliot Smith to K. Pearson, 30th Sept. 1920.

Description:
‘Dear Karl Pearson,
As I could not let any information about the cost of moving the anthropological material from Manchester I had to go up there and get an estimate myself. There are 250 cases and they would fill three of the largest size of vans. The estimate is £20 per van i.e. £60 in all.
Less than a third of the material is Sudanese and the ultimate destination of this is uncertain! but the rest I can give you outright. (I think we shall be able to keep half the Sudanese material and possibly the whole).
Can you suggest a scheme for dealing with the boxes[?].
Yours very truly,
G. Elliot Smith.’
