Description:'Dear Mr. Alport,
I have received the enclosed correspondence from Mr. Frank Whittaker of 4 Montrose Avenue, Bolton [not in file] about the export of monkeys from India to this country and if the facts are true they do reveal a rather horrifying situation.
Would it be possible for you to make some enquiries of the Indian Government about this export trade in order to see whether any appropriate measures of control are being taken from their end, as if not it is likely that there will be increasing demands in this country for the import of the monkeys to be banned.
I should be grateful for any information you could let me have.'
