Sent from George O. Messerly
2 May 1958
Description:'Sir,
I am invited by Members of my Executive Council to convey respectfully to Your Excellency our most ardent and forceful protest against the pressure exerted by the British Administration upon the Indian Government, urging them to abolish the Prohibition on the export of Monkeys which are claimed to be needed for the preparation of the Salk Vaccine, according to Dutch newspaper "Het Vaderland".
On the other hand, the Executive Council strongly stresses the vital need for an urgent scientific and statistical Report being officially issued by H.M. Administration, exhibiting the extent and results of such vaccinations throughout the World and especially in Great Britain. as we feel absolutely sanguine that even Your Excellency shall be extremely shocked and become convinced that the Salk Vaccination will soon be vouched as one of the most deceptive practices ever launched in the field of therapeutics.'
